A lovely American coin silver teaspoon, in the fiddle and shell pattern, made by the New York silversmith John Wolfe Forbes around 1850. The spoon is marked with his maker\'s mark plus anchor, star, bust, and letter C. It remains in very good vintage condition, with surface wear consistent with age and prior use. There is a beautifully engraved script monogram CS to the handle. Of good gauge and sturdy construction, this item represents the work of aquality spoonmaker. L: 5 3/4in/14.5cm; W: 25g/0.8 troy oz.
