This pretty lady is called \"Little Gift\" from the Wee Three Series. She was made during Muriel Joseph George\'s early California period, (1945 - 1962), before she moved her factory to Japan. She is pictured on Pg. 24 in the pink book, \"Josef Originals, Charming Figurines\" and on page 24 in the beige book, \"Josef Originals, 3rd Edition\". In that book, published in 2008, she was valued at $60 - $70. \"Little Gift\" is rare and hard to find, especially in such beautiful condition as this one is!

\"Little Gift\" is wearing a soft brownish-gray coat with a white fur collar and edges. Her dress underneath is aqua blue. She has the tilted head common to the early California pieces. There is a lot of shiny, 24 karat gold on this piece that makes her sparkle and shine! She is holding a white gift tied with a shiny gold bow. She is wearing white mittens and a fancy hat of aqua blue and brown. She is adorned with sparkling pink rhinestone jewels. There are two larger rhinestones set in clay flower shapes, one on her head and one on the bottom of her skirt. There are several smaller pink rhinestones nestled in the shiny gold spaghetti trim on her hat and both sides of her coat. She has brunette hair that curls on her forehead and is swept back in curls at the back of her head. Her face is expertly hand-painted with rosy cheeks, black eyes & lashes, delicate eyebrows and a cherry red mouth. She is just precious!

Little Gift is in excellent, MINT vintage condition! I can find nothing at all wrong with her. \"Josef Originals C\" is clearly inscribed in the clay on the bottom of the piece. An \"A\" is also scratched into the clay, probably the initial of the person who hand painted her. You can also see Muriel\'s \"X\" that she would scratch into the bottom of each California piece to signify her approval before final firing. Little Gift is approximately 4 1/4\" tall and 3\" wide and has a glossy glaze. The glaze does have crazing which is normal for a piece this old and does not detract from her beauty. This is a beautiful example of Muriel\'s early work!
