By Joseph B. Rotherham, published by The Standard Publishing Company, Cincinnati; undated but early 20th century - 1916 or after. In addition to the Bible books of Genesis through Ruth, it contains an Expository Introduction which includes the sections The Special Features of This Translation, Concerning Emphasis as Authoritatively Indicated in The Holy Scriptures, The Original Texts, The Incommunicable Name; and finally A Suggestive Genealogy.For the Bible Collector: please reference Hills No 2227, which states, in part: \"Copyright 1897, by Joseph B. Rotherham; Reprinted in the United States by the Standard Publishing Company, 1916. This version was reprinted a number of times by the Standard Publishing Company.\" The Standard Press printed 5 volumes of the entire Rotherham Bible, as well as one large bound volume. Note also what Hills No 1930 states: \"The Rev. Joseph Bryant Rotherham (1828-1909) was first a Wesleyan minister, then a Baptist, and later a minister of the Disciples of Christ. His NT was first printed in London in 1872 and was followed by a second edition in 1878. It uses an elaborate system of symbols and type to show various classes and relationships of textual material. The NT was based on Tregelles\' Greek text, but in 1897 was conformed to the Westcott and Hort text. A third edition was published in 1897 and the OT, based on Ginsberg\'s Hebrew text, was published in London in 1901-02.\"The full title reads: \"The Emphasised Bible. A New Translation designed to set forth the exact meaning, the proper terminology and the graphic style of the sacred originals; arranged to show at a glance narrative, speech, parallelism, and logical analysis, also to enable the student readily to distinguish the several divine names; and emphasised throughout after the idioms of the Hebrew and Greek tongues. With expository introduction, select references & appendices of notes. This version has been adjusted, in the Old Testament, to the newly revised \"Massoretico-Critical Text (or assured emendations) of Dr. Ginsburg; and in the New Testament, to the critical text (\"formed exclusively on documentary evidence\") of Drs. Westcott and Hort.This edition is in good condition, it has some wear and tear, shelf and edge wear, gold gilt on the spine along with library markings. Binding is well attached, hinges aren\'t cracked. Library stamping and papers inside the front cover (see pic #6). Ad adhered inside the back cover (see pic #12). No writing, loose pages, dog ears, bad smells, water damage, etc. that I could see. I would ask you to see the pics to get a good idea of it\'s condition, and I would be happy to answer any and all questions, or provide more pictures if needed. I am not a book grader, so see the pics, and you be the judge! This would be an awesome authentic addition to your collection, or a great gift for that collector in your life, and would look great sitting in your library! This measures about 9-1/8\" x 6-3/4\" x 13/16\", and has 288 pages.For the Watch Tower collector: First of all, what does the \"Watchtower Related\" mean? Many sellers here on use this term. To me, it refers to any works at any time that the WTB&TS may have referenced, possibly made available or advertised many years ago in similar forms, that JW\'s or original Bible students may have written or published, and things of that nature. Not necessarily produced or even made available by the Society, but may in some meaningful way relate to Watchtower history and heritage. There are hundreds of such items, if not more. Truly it is up to each person to decide for themselves if any addition to their personal library brings benefit to them.The Rotherham New Testament was advertised in The Divine Plan of the Ages in 1898, and other places. This has no markings of the Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society, however the Society in 1890 arranged for a special printing, bearing it\'s own name, of the Second Edition of this Bible (thanks to the Watchtower Publications Valuations Guide for this info). Also, the Society made the Twelfth Edition available in 1896. Joseph B. Rotherham is referenced to many times in the Watchtower Library, for example, see the New World Translation (2013) - Appendix A4, as well as the Proclaimers book, page 605. This Bible is somewhat difficult to come by, and would make a fine addition to your collection!
