KAMIL KUBIK RARE PRINT OF 1994 WORLD CUP SOCCER INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT IN USA:
$200.00

In1994, the WORLD CUP SOCCER GAMES were going to be held in the USA....a very surprising and rare turn of events since soccer is such a strong sportin many if not most international countries, and still growing here at home. The games were scheduled to be played in various cities across the country with NEW JERSEY being one of those sites. The NJ MEADOWLANDS which is the home stadium for the NEW YORK GIANTS AND THE NEW YORKJETS Professional Football teams wouldbe a host to these games and yet the publicity stated it was NEW YORK that would host these games. The Governor of New Jersey was furious and there was an immediate request for clarification which didn\'t happen to the degree thatNJ Officials hadasked for but there was some action taken. Part of that would be this beautiful painting of the MEADOWLANDS STADIUM by International Artist, KAMIL KUBIK. Kamil, a Czech immigrant, now lived near the stadium in Bergen County and was contacted by the US POSTAL Service about creating something that would celebrate the games and become part of a Postage Stamp Commemorative.

Out of that commission came this magnificent salute to the WORLD CUP and the beautiful NEW JERSEY stadium where games were played. Kamil created a series of limited edition prints along witha poster copy that could begiven out to fans who attended this game. Kamil and the Governor of NJ spent the day at the Meadowlands signing copies of the posters and giving them out to Soccer Fans attending this game.I am fortunate to have numerous prints as well as posters therefore, anyone who buys this print, will also receive one of those game-day posters too. As with most purchases, I try to include copies of printed material about Kamil and any other printed material I may have aboutthe specific print being purchased. This WORLD CUP had many articles printed in the newspapers for publicity and about the slight to NJ and I\'m happy to include a few of those as well. Thismemorable print would be a wonderful gift for any soccer fan and would look terrific in your home or office.

This is a medium sizedprint, unframed and signed in pencil by the artist. One of the most fascinating points of interest about this particular print is that it features one of the artist\'s signature styles and I think this WORLD CUP is one of the best examples. Just look up into the clouds........if you didn\'t notice at first you will quickly see that Kamil painted a whole team of soccer players as the clouds above the stadium where they are kicking soccer balls. It looks quite like ordinary clouds until you realize........it\'s SOCCER.He said he painted the earth in place of the moon because of what these games symbolize...the coming together of so many different countries for the sake of this one, spectacular international sport. This one isspecial. For a brief time I am selling this print for $250.Gallery pricing for most Kubik prints is in the $500 range...some are higher and some a little less. This is a super great buy for thisunique print. If interested, I\'ve added some background information about Kamil Kubik as well as my connection to this amazing artist and how we became such great friends.

Email any questions. Always happy to help.

OurPersonal History

I metKamil over 20 years ago when I commissioned him for a project that resultedina large number ofprints for the State of New Jersey: Cape May, The Barnegat Lighthouse, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, The World Cup Soccer games at Giants Stadium, the visit from the Pope during the 90\'s including mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Newark, the Battleship New Jersey and Christmas in Cape May! These arejust some of the beautiful prints that are availablefor purchase and thatI will continue sellinguntil they are gone.Kamil\'s International work and the New Jersey projectof paintings aretruly amazing but there are countless others that would take your breath away.

Kamillived an extremely healthy, active life but passed away in 2011because of complications from a serious stroke he had unfortunately suffered about 5 years before.

Hehad beenborn in Czechoslavakia but when theCommunists seized power in 1948, he escaped to the West. After living in Germany and Australia, he traveled to the United States, arriving in SanFrancisco where hestudied with the Academy of Fine Arts and worked at the Museum of Modern Art. In 1962, he came to New York City and studied at the Art Student\'s League. He spent four years in London and Germany where his English born wife was the Prima Ballerina, dancingwith the Essen Opera House. Kamil and Joanna returned to New York in 1967 but shared time living in New Yorkwith an apartment in Washington DC as well.Kamil had developed a close relationship with the President and First Lady,George and Barbara Bush and he trulyenjoyed the world of politics. Washington DC became theperfect place for the Kubiks to spend some of their time.

Kamil\'s worldwide reputation is based on hisCityscapes and gorgeous Florals in pastels and oil. He was named The Official Artist for several USOpen Golf Tournaments and several US Open Tennis Tournaments as well. His catalogue is extensive and his works are featured in private and public collections as well as the White House. He was honored with the prestigious annual award \"NEW YORKER OF THE YEAR\" by the Bowling Green Association, a well respected Wall Street Organization. Mr. Kubik designed both the 1991 and again the 1992 official White House Christmas Card for President and Mrs. Bush. The artist painted the Official Bicentennial of the New York Stock Exchange and in the mid 90\'s painted a great many holiday cards with a Wall Street / Financial theme. His 1972 Reader\'s Digest Cover featured the skating rink in front of the former Plaza Hotel in New York and was seen by millions. His work has been chronicled by a vast range of publications, from Business Week, which in 1976 named him an \"Outstanding Young Artist Recommended by Collectors, Curators and Dealers\"..........to the New York Times which has reviewed his work on several occasions. His stamp of the 1994 WORLD CUP SOCCER TOURNAMENT is recognizable to soccer fans and he was commissioned to do paintings for the Ritz Carlton Hotel Organization, the Breakers Hotel and the Greenbrier Country Club. Enough, I suppose, although I could go on...and on. I still have some of this particular printavailable for purchase.......but since Kamil is no longer here.........once these prints are gone, there will be no more.

Your print will come to you unframed, and signed by the artist. It will becarefully packed in tissue and well protected. I will include some printed material about the artist and his work that I have collected over the years such as News Articles, Pictures, Magazine Stories, Various Reviews and several personal letters written by variouswell known people who were great fans of Kamil and his art. (Donald Trump, First Lady, Barbara Bush, President Bush, First Lady, LadyBird Johnson, Governor George Pataki...etc.)
