Limited Edition of 1924, vellum bound Deluxe Large Paper copy, but out of series ( not signed or numbered), most likely a presentation copy.

A most wonderful illustrated version of Hans Andersen, Large Paper Deluxe edition, with delicate and imaginative illustrations in colour and line by Kay Nielsen, issued by Hodder and Stoughton in London, 1924, an un-numbered, un-signed presentation (?) copy from the Limited Edition. Profusely illustrated with 12 beautiful full colour plates, under captioned tissues, and endless black-and-white full page illustrations, unique chapter headings and initials and ornaments within, all by Kay Nielsen. The cover design also by Kay Nielsen, featuring a charming portrait of Hans Andersen. Very beautiful and special book. Finely bound in recent full gilt vellum. Contents on off-white slightly glossy paper. Substantial, heavy, thick volume, oversized quarto measuring 32cm x 27cm X 4cm. TEG ( Top Edge Gilt), other edges deckled or uncut. Book condition: As shown in photos, a gorgeous copy. Perfect externally. A very bright and clean copy with only a few small very occasional spots. Please see photos. A beautiful book in very bright, clean condition, with perfect plates. There are no bookplates or inscriptions. Many images below. Exceedingly scarce Kay Nielsen work, with superb illustrations throughout, a rare work certain to delight a collector and to make a wonderful, memorable gift.
