About the Artist:Karin Pohlworks in the rarely seen metal enamel technique of limoges.She trained in Vienna with the famous artist Eva Scherer and finished her 6 years studies with honors which now marks her as an artist in the field for more than 35 years. She specializes in the process of Limoges painting with enamels on copper and releases only original one of a kind miniature pictures, spheres and jewelry.
Her Limoges are in many private collections throughout the world and she is a featured artist in various publications. She currently resides in California and works with her husband to release original works of art as well as exhibit in various craft festivals and galleries. She has a website that can be viewed at kpenamels that continues to display and market her gallery of new and unique creations.
About the Art:As described by the artist \"The enamel technique of Limoges is an intricate process of layering and repeated firing to fuse the enamel powder to the metal base, copper is my metal of choice. I apply at first by sifting and then with a brush, a think layer of various finely ground enamels, transparents, opalescents and opaques, onto the copper base; including counter enameling.

Between layers I incorporate pure gold and fine silver foils, paillons, granules and in some cases gold leaf. I finish by applying painting enamels (mixed with clear firing oils) with a crow quill pen for the very fine details and outlines. Each piece has between fifteen and twenty applications and firings at temperatures between at 1200⁰ - 1750⁰.\"
