KENTON FIRE TRUCK cast iron c. 1930, RESTORED,7 INCHES

Offered here is one restored cast iron fire truck, just about 7 inches long, made, according to the best available research, by the Kenton Toy Company of Kenton, Ohio, about 1930. The firetruck with its pumper/ boiler was a popular subject for toy manufacturers, and Kenton\'s were among the best.

This one some seventy or fifty years ago was much loved. At some time in its history, it was broken in half and a part of the right running board was lost. A couple of welds were made by an unknown benefactor, and the rear axle was used to hold the broken parts together. That was strengthened by a further weld at the pump wheel on the right side of the boiler. The welds held, and the play value continued. However, by recent years even that had been lost, and it was sold to a collector for its origins, not its condition. But the newest owner just couldn\'t take that neglected state.Offered here are the results.

The missing part of the running board has been replaced, the welds have been somewhat cleaned up, and a paint job of red, gold, and yellow (with other accent colors) has been lovingly applied.This is a restoration, not a perfect original, and so simple decals have been placed at strategic points identifying this as \"Kenton Fire Dept.\" or some variation thereof.This is a restoration meant for enjoyment, not an attempt to deceive. This restoration was done by the owner and has been a part of a collection that is now being simplified. Age happens. Please see my \"other items\" for more from that collection.
