Offered here is a circa 1940 tightly woven Navaho weaving thatmeasures 3 feet 7 inches long by 2 foot 5 inches wide or 43” x 29”.It is attributed to the Klagetoh weaving area and is in very goodcondition. It was hand-woven by anexpert weaver on a primitive upright loom of all Native handshorn, handcardedand nicely handspun long staple Churro and Churro cross sheep wool, both weft& warp. Here is a very nice,pleasing yet simple designed old Indian textile. It has one large stepped and geometricdesigned full field diamond medallion with small floating stepped elements inall four corners. .

We recently obtained this vintage Native Americantextile fresh out of a large Arizonacollection just to offer you here on .It has a very nice tight weft count averaging 28 per inch and a finewarp count of 9 per inch. The selvagecords are all in original, excellent condition. Warp selvages are 2-spiral cords and weftselvages are natural weft loop finished around the outside warp. The corners are all four tight, original andin excellent condition. The tassels are all four original and in excellentcondition. It has not been cleaned, isfairly clean now & comes from a non-smoking home. There are two small re-weaves along oneedge. One is 1 ½” x ¾” and the other is1 ¼” x ¼”. One corner of one side isjust slightly lighter in color. Both sidesare shown in photos above. Colors areexcellent in this piece of old American Indian art and they are: hand carded and blended natural grayishbrown, ivory white & camel brown along with hand dyed aniline darkchocolate brown and a dark turquoise blue green. This example of very nice Native Americanais ready to tuck away in your own private rug & blanket collection. (2135LKET)
