Krazy Kat Lithographed Tin Platform Pulltoy J. Chein & Co. 1932:
$750.00

FIRST, THE ITEM DESCRIPTION: RARE 1932 tin pulltoy made by J. Cein & Co. features Krazy Kat chasing 2 small red mice. The tin platform is 7 1/2” long & 2 3/4” wide. Krazy is 4 1/4” from the top of platform to top of ears & the mice are 2” tall. When the toy is pulled Krazy moves back & forth as if running after the 2 red mice who also move back & forth. There is also a noisemaker built into the platform that should squeack when toy is pulled – but it doesn\'t. The design of the toy is identical to the more common(but still hard to find) Felix the Cat platform toy. Chein made only some minor changes to the lithography of the black cat & changed the cat\'s name & voila – a new toy. Note the white ribbon in the back of Krazy\'s head. A touch of femininity to distinguish the female Krazy from the very masculine Felix. Condition is excellent with some play wear overall especially on edges & a few spots of corrosion on the top of the platform. 1 spot is under her forward foot & another is around the edge of the noisemaker. Also some wear spots on the head. Please look at all my photos & ask any questions you may have regarding condition. The Krazy Kat platform toy is one of 4 made by J. Chein & Co. in the 1930s. The Krazy Kat is the hardest to find of the 4 which includes Buttercup & Spare Ribs; Snowflake & Swipes; Felix the Movie Cat & this one known as Krazy Kat Chasing Ignatz Mouse. Ignatz was the mouse that Krazy Kat was in love with but Ignatz rejected her. If you want more information on the 4 Chein platform toys you can read my article in Antique Toy World magazine Sept. 2009 issue page 56. For more information on the complete line of Krazy Kat toys made by Chein please see my article in Antique Toy World magazine June 2009 issue page 70-71.
