VERY OLD and elegant, an original that most others are styled after, we LOVE this antique FRENCH carved Victorian \"bureau plat\" or library desk/table.

~ THIS IS A LARGE SIZE for this style, making it wonderfully versatile for use in today\'s home, from the library to the dining room to the kitchen!~

~And, as mentioned, it’s the original design from the 1800’s that was copied on the smaller “dolphin tables” made later in that century!~

~Incredible detailed carving, captivating features, ornately done

relief carved lion masks, canted corners, Gothic drop finials & arches, Renaissance flair & huge carved spiral feet~

~FRENCH markings include the ‘gadrooning’ on the frieze and the carved “shells” on the lower center legs~

Condition:

The desk is in good condition for its age, c1880 or earlier, with normal signs of age and use, dings, scratches and other imperfections. Staining and wear, scratches, etc. to the top, as to be expected over time. The carvings are wonderful and ALL the larger drop down finials on the corners are present…VERY hard-to-find. Original rolling casters are hidden inside the feet. Drawer bottom has splits, as to be expected. I always provide multiple photos that should be considered as part of the description and I encourage you to email me with any questions you might have prior to offerding. Please keep in mind antique furniture should be purchased for its uniqueness, higher quality material and craftsmanship and antique patina, charm and character….NOT for like-new condition!!!
