A large antique fine silver wire Japanese cloisonné vase from the Meiji era (1868 - 1912) that is round form with a very short neck, flared mouth, broad shoulders tapering down to a narrow foot. The vase has brass mounts including mouth and base rims, base plate and throat plate.
The design is of a finely detailed white flowering tree in a garden setting amid flowering garden plants including a finely wired deep purple asiatic poppy, red chrysanthemum and pale blue gentian. There are over 200 tiny white flowers and buds on the tree. Note the fine wiring on the purple asiatic poppy flower as well as the intricate wiring of the leaves on that plant. The back side has a small flowering gentian plant. The background is a highly hand polished mirror black color.
The vase is 12\" tall. It is signed to the base however it was drilled for a lamp and the hole obliterates most of the mark but the close-up photo shows the edges of the incised signature mark within a circle.
