DESCRIPTION This exquisite sculpture of aquatic nature appears to depict an
upturned sea shell from either the Nassarius, Buccinum or Sagamiscala
genus, resting in a bed of branching coral which acts as a pedestal,
featured atop a 5\" square base. This stunning piece is amazingly detailed
from the lirae & costae ornamentation (grooves & ridges) and suture (spiral) of
the shell, to the corallites (pores) of the coral upon which it sits. Though it is
mainly patina painted with a \'distressed\' mottled silver leaf finish, faint patches
of gold coloration may also be visible in certain lighting.
