Stunning, deep, crisp, neo-classical silver work of cherubs playing in the clouds while taming classical dolphins...

Very fine repousse, chase work & engravings... I especially enjoy the wonderfully decorated cover. A cherub plays near the tail of the dolphins while a couple others rejoice in having tamed them!

All the sides are covered with bands of floral garland vines, more cherubs, small vignettes of love birds and regularly spaced blank reserves.

Measures approx. 7 1/4" long x 5 1/8" wide x 2 5/8" high and weighs a substantial 20.7 ozs.

In great estate condition. The lid hinge runs the length of the back and has kept the lid aligned well. The gilted interior is strong and clean, without loss. No monograms or damage visible. A couple very small insignificant dints only.

All the work is very well done and will please you everytime you pause to appreciate this wonderful, heavy silver treasure!
