This Royal Doulton figurine is hand made, hand painted, and detailed. It is a rather curious piece designed by Peggy Davies and produced between 1954-1992. The piece in question is stamped 1954, so it is an original numbered 54/175 original year of production.
There are many realistic details of clothing, especially the gentleman’s expression as he examines his tankard. If you compare the different statuettes you can notice definite variations on the facial expressions, this particular piece has an incredible eye. It stands approximately 6” tall and is about 4” wide.
The complete text around and below the backstamp is as follows: “Hand made and hand decorated, Made in England, Royal Doulton, England, The Foaming Quart, HN 2162, COPR 1954, Doulton & Co LIMITED, Rd No. 87404, Rd No. 32786, Rd No. 7020, Rd No. 175/54 .” The figurine is in excellent condition.
