Lladro began in 1953, when three brothers made their first creations after being inspired by an experimental vocation, in a furnace built in their own home in Almassera (Valencia). Within two years, they were producing sculptures with a clear influence from the 18th century that evoke the work of former porcelain artists such as Meissen, Sèvres, and Capodimonte. In 1958 they decided to dedicate themselves to their own work and transferred their company into a warehouse, because the demand for their work had outgrown the facilities of the family business. From that point forward, the company was constantly in evolution, reinventing itself with new classics that feature bright colors, original shapes, and innovative textures. This work is highly collectible and extremely sought after today.
