This is for a lot of 3 of these old Santa\'s. I originally had a box of these (about 50) that were recovered a few years back. See details below. I have for the past few years been selling these for between $15to $25 per Santa. I have now sold most of them and I\'m ready to blow out the last 9 that I have left. That being said, this sale is for 3 pieces. I do have 3 of theses lots available. The history below is correct and accurate.
Antique 1940s German Paper Mache Santa-Erich Hohn CompanyThis is a wonderful and previously lost piece of Christmas past. And just last year, rediscovered. What I have here is a beautiful Santa Clause figure that is constructed of a mix of sand, paper mache, and possibly something else. This figure dates back to the 1940s Germany. The figures are almost 3 inches tall.
Made by the Erich Hohn Company of the Thuringen region of Germany. The Erich Hohn Company was one of Germany\'s largest toy makers and also produced Christmas/Weinachten decorations and toys, etc. Up until the peak of the second world war, they published one of the most amazing catalogues for their line of toys, holiday items and knick-knacks...At the peak of WW2, the company had to close and much of their inventory was destroyed and or looted. The company did pack away many things in their basement in Thuringen. After the war, the company resumed operations, but focused specifically on the toy market. The company recently went bankrupt and all of their holdings were liquidated and sold off. Including these adorable little Santa figures. They are wonderful how they are now. They can also be painted.
I was able to buy the only remaining pieces of these Santa Clause figures from the man who bought them from the liquidation sale. So as far as I know, I have the last of these amazing little pieces of Christmas history. These figures are nearly 75 years old and they have remained in perfect condition as if they were made just yesterday. Obviously they weren\'t. You can tell that they are very old.
