SUPERB 19C INLAID ROSEWOOD ANTIQUE FRENCH JEWELLERY BOX - FAB INTERIOR

You are offerding on a WONDERFUL 19c figured rosewood veneered restored and repolished inlaid French jewellery box. Dates approximately 1860/1890.

In WONDERFUL restored condition.

Very solid in construction.

No missing or replaced veneer. Tiny nibble repair to the bottom left hand rear edge which is nothing an a small bruise just above the keyhole again this is nothing. Otherwise a terrific box in great condition. Inlaid to the outer edge with ebony, abalone shell, and walnut all complete.

Difficult to appreciate until you see it in front of you.

Inlaid with the original white metal to the keyhole escutcheon, central cartouche, and just above the keyhole.

Box retains the original lock, top catch and hinges.

Supplied with a silk tassel and Victorian key that sadly does not lock the box, and is supplied and described as being decorative only.

Comprising a wonderful interior that boasts a later wooden tray finished to a superb standard that compliments. This has been relined in expensive velvet material of the highest quality, the same as the interior of the box.

All the added dividers within the tray can easily be repositioned or removed if desired. The tray can hold many rings in an upright position.

Underneath the additional tray and beneath the base of the box have also been lined in velvet to stop any scratches to other surfaces.

A superb box, and would make a fantastic gift.
