Ladies 1930s Croton Solid PLATINUM 18 Genuine Diamonds Art Deco Swiss Made Watch:
$305.00

In my travels I see many watches, some very high quality, some rare and others quite beautiful. The following Art Deco dress watch watch checks all the boxes…if you think it looks nice in the photographs you’ll be even more pleased with it in person.

It was made by the Croton Watch Co. of Switzerland, a respected name that was part of Nivada Watch of Gretchen founded by Jacob Schneider in 1926. This particular watch dates to the late 1930s and features a Solid Platinum case that is adorned with Eighteen [18] Genuine Diamonds, all securely set.

This watch measures 23mm lug tip to lug tip and 13.5mm in width (15mm with original winding crown). This works out to be 7/8 of an inch long by 9/16 of an inch wide, not including the crown. It is fitted on a vintage, new old stock black cord bracelet that measures a total length of 7-1/4 inches, easily shortened or lengthened by me for the winning buyer. Powering this watch is its original 17 jewel mechanism, fully serviced by my skilled watchmaker David prior to sale to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.

The ivory color, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, the original that’s been professionally restored. It features black enamel painted numerals, 60 minute outer track border and original blue steel hands.  Signed CROTON below the 12.

The solid glass crystal is in excellent, clear condition with no flaws. The two-piece case is also in excellent condition, Solid Platinum and featuring Eighteen [18] Genuine Diamonds of high clarity that simply SPARKLE. The matching and original winding crown is in excellent shape, operating smoothly.

The back lid is in excellent shape with its original brushed finish and NO wear. Peeking inside I find a clean manual wind movement that is signed Croton Watch Co., Swiss – Seventeen 17 Jewels, JXH. The inside of the back lid is stamped 900 PLATINUM – 100 IRIDIUM.

This lovely timepiece has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with a period correct new old stock black cord bracelet currently sized to fit a wrist up to 7-1/4 inches. If you need this to be shorter (or longer) just let me know! All in all a ready to wear, beautiful Art Deco evening watch that will be a fun to wear and also a great investment over time – you can’t go wrong.

  • Watch sizes: I provide exact case measurements in millimeters (the watch industry standard) and inches, and include a U.S. quarter in one photo as a size reference. Draw the measurements on a piece of paper to help visualize the watch on your wrist. Remember, men’s vintage watches are noticeably smaller than oversized timepieces you see today. Prefer a brown strap instead of black? For most men’s watches I can switch the color before mailing; just let me know.
