Very large general store/ dry goods ledger from the beautiful village of New Preston, part of Washington, Litchfield County, Connecticut. All 864 pages have entries; no blank pages. Entries date from July, 1887 to June, 1888. Every imaginable item, from cheese to barn brooms, was sold. Countless surnames of likely everyone, who lived in the area at the time, are listed. Must have been the most vital business provider of basic goods and services in New Preston during the latter half of the 19th century. We are somehow unable to identify the name or owner of the store. Some wear to the spine as shown. However, it remains very solid and tightly bound. Very clean inside with no tears or missing pages.
