From a lovely Cape Cod estate.

Large hand pieced and hand tied antique quilt/coverlet. It has a light brushed cotton batting.

Measures approximately 81” x 78”. It is pictured on a queen sized bed. The end has been draped over a footboard for better viewing of the whole quilt.

The top is comprised of squares that measure about 2.5” each. The material is original 1920/30s cotton feedsack. Great variety of color and patterns, nicely arranged and hand stitched together. The backing is a cotton muslin in a shade of natural.

The quilt is in very good antique condition. I counted approximately 6 squares that will need repair. There could be a few more that I may have missed.

Photo 11 shows the type of tear that will need repair.

One square has had a repair.

There is some fading in a few squares - please see last photo.

There are no major stains. A few minor spots on s few of the squares. The backing does have some darkening along the edges from where it would have been handled over the years.

The quilt has not been washed. It does not have any unpleasant odors but has been stored away for a while.
