This early, 1930s era, large stockinette and heavily padded cotton, Russian Tea Cozy doll is most often called, \"The Tea Soaker\", as she has one hand that may have originally held a wooden tea cup and a mischievous look in her eyes and pursed lips as if she is blowing on her tea to cool it. She can hold her hands behind her ears or together (hands have individually, well stitched fingers) and is a sturdy looking matron with chubby features including painted downcast eyes, rounded nose and chin, deep dimplesand heavily padded bosom as well as lovely strawberry blond floss hair combed back into a bun at the back of her neck. She wears her original, lovely printed cotton dress with long sleeves and ruffled hem. Her shoulders are covered by her original, flower decorated, orange cotton scarf or babushka and she has pierced ears with original blue earrings. She measures about 18\" tall, with a wide, heavily padded and quilted, mauve cotton under-skirtwith printed design (to cover a tea pot or other kitchen appliance).She still has her full, sewn-in, cotton label inside her skirt: Made in Russia No.8630\"Tea-Soaker\" and is in generally excellent condition with no aging or fading to the fabric and no stains or odors as she is from a smoke free home. (loc 10) Fabric still has original crisp finish. Authentic, signed Russian doll painting and Russian dolls in last photos are not included and available separately.
