Antique Inlaid Wood Box, Lap DeskThis old box is a masterpiece. It appears to be dark walnut wood with a lighter burl inlay, perhaps maple. The inlay is intricate with a lovely mother of pearl centerpiece. The box is hinged in back with a locking mechanism in the front. This does not lock, as there is no key. The right hinge is wobbly. One of the screws appears to have been replaced in the past and it does not sit flush. The lining is old, but in fair condition. There are no tears, but it does show some wear. The wood is gorgeous. There is a darkened spot in the front left corner and there appears to be a light residue from a sticker. The veneer has some small fine cracks, as would be expected. This piece measures 14 x 9.25 x 4.25 inches.Please see the pictures as they describe the item best.
