This large and fine spear thrower comes from the Cape York Peninsula in North Queensland and would have been used to launch spears during hunting. It has flat thin body carved from hardwood with the lower section having a resign grip terminating in two baler shell discs with abrus seeds around the exterior. The top has a large notched peg set at a right angle secured with resin. The piece is a great example in excellent condition and measures 92cm in height.
