This is an outstanding authentic ancient Egyptian Steatite Scarab dated Middle Kingdom 2055-1650 B.C. The Scarabaeus is an extremely well done scarce Scarab having slight green tints on the body and head. The base pattern features 7 separate hyroglyphics on 2 panels which are deeply and expertly insized. The hole for suspension is clean and unblocked and the legs are intricately carved as to display it\'s hairy legs. Length - 1 3/8\"Width - 1\"Provenance - Clarence R. Jones, private collector. He bought it from an Antiquities Dealer in Egypt while on a World Trade Mission in the Middle East in 1971. He met with dignitaries Anwar Sadat and King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud from Saudi Arabia who directed him to the Antiquities Dealer.Although I know that this scarab is authentic, l encourage the buyer to take this scarab to a museum to be authenticated because I have no papers or certificate of authenticity to offer.Custom or tax duties required are the responsibly of the buyer.
