LARGE Antique Scottish Horn Cup Cider Beaker Sterling Silver Shield MountDESCRIPTION: A very nice antiqueScottish cider beaker made from cattle horn, dating to the late Victorian Era. It has a sterling silver shield mount that has unreadable hallmarks and a blurred monogram. This large cup is all opaque brown and cream horn with a highly polished surface. The bottom is lathe-turned set-in beveled horn. It is about 4 1/2\" (11 cm) tall, with a 3 1/2\" (9 cm) top diameter. Another real beauty from the extensive personal horn cup collection of The Rook and the Raven. CONDITION: This sturdy horn cup is a fine antique piece for display or use. I put water in it and it does not appear to leak.The rim is smooth, there are no peeling areas, cracks or splits. No apparent damage of any kind. I believe at one time it may have had a silver band or collar around the top rim. They often did. Please enlarge our photos for nice close up views of color, texture and condition.
