Up for sale is a beautiful Victorian Era figural needlepoint/petit point of Madame Pompadour reading a book. It has incredibly small stitches (please see the photo with the ruler for reference). The size of the finished work is approximately 22\" x 17.5\". The canvas size is approximately 24\" x 20\". The needlework is mounted to thin cardboard with basting stitches and glue (please see close up photos). The markings on the canvas margins are:

Top left is marked \"BFBP\"
Top right is marked \"181I\"
Bottom center is marked \"Mme Pompadur\"

It\'s in excellent condition, having been preserved under glass. We have carefully reviewed the work and don\'t see any missing stitches. A wonderful example of fine antique needlework. Thanks for looking at our sale.
