Large Victorian Scottish Provincial Silver Agate Anchor Brooch c1880

A truly stunning large Scottish Silver Anchor Broochdating to c1880, which was probably made by a Scottish Provincial Silversmith. Typical of the period the Silver is unmarked but the Brooch is guaranteed to be made from solid Silver i.e not Silver Plated(please see the detailed close-upphotographs provided, which form an integral part of the item\'s description).

This superb Broochis beautifully engraved with hand chased decoration and set with gorgeous octagonal brown banded Agate. Itis fashioned as a \'Fouled Anchor\', which was a classic Victorian love symbol with the Anchor meaning steadfastness and the fouling wire meaning entwined forever.Overall, the Brooch is in great condition, as shown; the pin & \'C\' clasp appear to be original and the Brooch only has expected wear to the surface commensurate with age.

This wonderful Brooch has the following dimensions:

Width– Approx’ 4.4 cms; and

Weight– 14.7 grams
