Description
Ming dynasty green glazed terra-cotta tomb figure circa 1368 – 1644 AD. Statue has removable terra-cotta head (see photo). These figures were typically found groups, sometimes in a procession. In antiquity, some of the figures would have been carrying Flags; some were cast carrying books in one arm. I have seen about a dozen different versions of this type including completely different (blue) color schemes.
Acquired in 1997 from Greg Manning Galleries, West Caldwell, NJ. Original invoice from Manning will be provided to the buyer.Condition
Losses to back of collar, likely from removal of head without care during excavation. Overall good condition for age with surface chips and nicks as shown.Approximate Dimensions
