A lovely characterful portrait oil painting of an early 19th century gentleman in the circle of Sir Thomas Lawrence 1769 - 1830. This portrait is not your usual generic provincial painting but one that reveals the sitter to our gaze as if he was there in front of us anda good and strong personality is revealed. No apparent signature but very much in style and quality to Sir Thomas Lawrence. In very good clean condition on unlined original canvas. Painting measures 25" x 30" and32" x 38" in its 19th gilt frame requiring restoration.
