Japanese Carved Bear
An impressive large Japanese ainu woodcarving - black bear on a heavy base, poised to climb a tree trunk. Very skilled carving; highly textured and lifelike, a strong composition from any angle. Moth open in a roar, with exposed teeth and pink tongue. Dated 1968 and signed with several Japanese inscriptions. Nice condition; a great example of Hokkaido artistry; one forthecollector!
Excellent condition; minor wear, small scratches and dings.12\" high, 10\" across, 6\" deep.
