Large Heavy Sterling Silver & Natural Turquoise Navajo Belt Buckle By Gibson Nez For Sale
Dimensions: 2 ¾” X 3 3/8”.
Weighs: 170.00 grams, about 5.5 troy ounces. Penny in photo for scale.
S/H/I: $11.30 ~ International Shipping Will Cost More ~
Large rectangular heavy sterling silver Navajo belt buckle with a big blue natural turquoise stone that I think is from the Pilot Mountain mine in Nevada. The buckle is curved slightly to make it form fitting when worn. There is a handmade prong and bracket on the back to secure the buckle to a 1 ½” leather belt (not included). There is a stair step overlay design around the stone with a contrasting granulated silver background.
Excellent quality and very good condition on this massive belt buckle. The beautiful stone does have some faint matrix pitting and matrix related hairlines, which were probably present in the stone when it was originally set in the silver buckle. Ca. 4th quarter of the 1900’s buckle is hallmarked “STERLING”, “GZN”, and “NAVAJO”. It was made by famous deceased Navajo silversmith Gibson Nez. Jewelry made by Gibson is VERY collectible! Reasonable reserve for this impressive buckle.
