I received information pertaining to this beautiful filet crochet tablecloth from a certified appraiser with 25 years in a museum and in the field, specializing in large textile collection in a major museum. She indicated that this tablecloth is filet crochet and could very well be from the late 19th century but could also be from the first quarter of the 20th century (or truthfully have been made more recently). She stated that these complex patterns with some damage and wear are clues to age and tell us they are older than fancy heritage crafts. White (some neutral colors/ivory/cream) was common in the late 19th century (as well as this style of pattern) as white cotton was easy to care for and bleach when stained, while colored cottons were not popular for crochet until the second quarter of the 20th century. For the most part this tablecloth is in decent shape. As pictured, there is a defect in the stitching. I really have not noticed any other defects but please remember that this is a vintage piece that does appear to be used. It is approximately 64\"x46\".
