We are pleased to offer this lateEdo/early Meiji Period, Japanese lacquer document box depicting a gorgeousmotif of whimsical vines among a handsome basket. Crafted upon brown lacqueredsurfaces with raised and dimensional gold lacquer paint, the box features adomed lid embellished with breathtaking Mother of Pearl and pewter inlays. Theinternal surfaces shimmer with their gold lacquer paint and similar aestheticsas the box top.

Please note, this document box shows signs of wear commensuratewith age and use including surface scuffs and minor dings. Additionally, restorationhas occurred to include touch ups to the lid. With no structural cracks orshrinkage of materials, this box would be an amazing addition to yourcollection!
