The fat one with the little mustache is Oliver Hardy. He kneels at the back & when the plunger handle is pushed in the toy is activated with Hardy\'s upper body rising slightly as the box lid opens & the skinny one – Stan Laurel – pops his head outside of the box. You can also see Laurel\'s 1 arm which is in a fixed position just outside the box. 6” long & about 4” from bottom to top of Hardy\'s head. Both characters are lithographed tin on only 1 side. The back side is bare metal. Works well making a loud siren noise. Overall excellent condition. I don\'t believe this had a sparkler function but it does work on the same basis as a sparkler. Toy is marked LA ISLA on Hardy\'s shoe & R.S. at the point where Hardy\'s knee touches down. Made in Spain circa 1925-1930. R. S. stands for Rogelio Sanchis the founder of the toy company. The company used the name La Isla or La Isla R.S. In its earliest years. If there was room on the toy they often used a castle logo with La Isla underneath. The company\'s first comic character themed toys(business started in 1926) featured Felix the Cat & often paired Felix with Mickey Mouse. There are 2 other variations of this toy including the very rare Mickey Mouse with Felix emerging from the box.
