Description
Le Roy Sauer was an American printmaker and teacher who taught for many years at the Dayton Art Institute in Ohio. He was a very talented artist who produced some exceptional landscape prints of rural Ohio and Indiana. This work shows a farmer plowing in a fenced field the old fashioned way with a team of horses. The focal point of this drypoint etching is the magnificent tree that takes up most of image, but the farmer and horses area also an important part of the composition. This is a fine regional print.
