Both are by Jules Crevaux. Profusely illustrated with engravings. All in French. Ex-library of Congress. The subject matter is Guiana in South America. Signed by the author Dr Jules Crevaux and dated 1881 and inscribed to Ferdinand Denis. The articles are entitled Voyage D\'exploration Dans L\'intérieur Des Guyanes and De Cayenne Aux Andes. Jules Crevaux was a French doctor, soldier, and explorer. He is known for his multiple explorations into the interior of French Guiana and the Amazon. Shortly after this publication Crevaux was murdered in another expedition (in Bolivia I think). He was awarded Gold Medal of the Societe de Geographie. There are also hand-written notes in the back attributed to Ferdinand Denis. Denis wrote many books about the culture and history of Brazil. His dedication to promote Brazilian culture was much appreciated by intellectuals and policymakers from Brazil and earned him the commendation of the Imperial Order of the Rose and the Imperial Order of the Cross. In France he received the Cross of the Legion of Honor. I believe that this book belonged to Denis and was given to him by Crevaux. All in FRENCH. Size is about 9" by 12 1/2".
