Today’s sale brings to you a used vintage 1970 German made Leica Summicron 35mm f/2 Wide Angle Lens. This black second version Summicron for Leica M Rangefinders, a six element Gaussian design with the usual inner four elements as two cemented pairs, is from the first year that black anodizing was available on second version lenses. Serial number 2394771, it is externally similar in looks to the first version but for a small lever for setting the aperture. This lens, shipping with the original front lens cap has a replacement rear lens cap and is in excellent condition optically and mechanically. Cosmetically it bears lighter than normal markings for a used lens of it’s vintage. The optics are clean, free from fog and fungus and show minor coating marks visible only at high magnification. These marks will not affect performance, clarity or sharpness in any way. The aperture and focus rings operate smoothly. Though it predates 6-bit encoding or the use of aspherical element designs by a significant margin this lens is perfect for film or digital implementation.

As an added bonus, this lens ships to you with an original Leica Germany metal, clip-on lens hood #12504. This lens is an excellentshooter’sexample of late 20th century German lens design and manufacturing prowess. The Leica Summicron 35mm f/2 will be a joy to use with your Leica Rangefinder camera.
