Large ELEGANT Vintage 1870\'s Double Irish Chain 9-Patch Antique Quilt ~NICE BORDER
This GORGEOUS cotton chestnut brown and green 1870\'s double Irish chain quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted, with wonderful postage stamp border and 9-patch blocks in the corners.
It measures a generous 84\" X 84\" and is in excellent condition, with a couple of small age spots and no wear.
There is quilting around the piecework and in a grid design in the background, all at 8 stitches to the inch. The back is a beautiful early floral fabric, the hand stitched binding is solid turkey red, and the batting is thin. You can see cotton seed residue inside when you hold the quilt up to the light.The photos just don\'t do justice to this WELL EXECUTED late nineteenth century COLLECTOR\'S QUILT in GREAT CONDITION!
