White Star Line: True story: When the BRITANNIC sailed off in 1961 to British ship scrappers Thomas W. Ward, Ltd., a young liner enthusiast and future ship historian named Jack Shaum wrote the company, asking if they could send him something from the beloved liner. He didn\'t expect a response. Imagine his surprise when a heavy parcel arrived in the mail. Inside was this - a nameplate made of cast brass unscrewed from one of the lifeboats! This hefty beauty was caked with years of black and white paint which has since been removed, revealing the shiny brass letters and textured background. The nameplate from the last surviving White Star liner was a prized possession for fifty-six years. Now, for the first time, it is being offered for sale. It may be the only BRITANNIC brass lifeboat nameplate extant. It measures 1.75\"wide by 18\" long by .25\" thickIn 1964, young Jack wrote Thomas W. Ward again, asking for a souvenir from the MAURETANIA (II) which was then being scrapped. He never received a reply.Excellent
