Track Tested, runs forward neutral reverse without any hiccups. Couplers open on demand. All lighting functions normally. Horn is present but I feel it should be louder. Strong good looking unit. Pay attention to pics as one side of train is faded. Unsure why but wanted to point that out because it seems to be one of only a couple of flaws in this train .

The General Electric EP-5 electric diesel style locomotive was introduced by Lionel in 1956. The 2351 Milwaukee Road version was the second of only four EP-5\'s produced by Lionel during the postwar era. All postwar EP-5 are hard to locate in collector condition.

For those enthusiastic enough to install overhead wiring on a layout, the 2351 was built to use power from either Lionels center rail or from its functional pantographs. In either case, the 2351 is a smooth running and reliable diesel.

Standard features of the 2351 EP-5 include: unpainted yellow body with a black painted up portion and red painted middle stripe, yellow lettering, single motor, magnetraction, three-position E-unit, horn, headlight, operating couplers at each end plus two functional pantographs, illuminated headlight and numberboards and an ornamental horn on each end.

An interesting note regarding the 2351 Milwaukee Road EP-5 is its numberboard. All 2351\'s have the number 375 in the numberboard -- representing the number of the real locomotive

A common problem with all EP-5 electric diesels are the ends of the shell. Quite frequently, at least one end on the shell has a hairline stress-crack near the rivet below the headlight. This particular unit is no exception.
