Lot Antique c1770 Revolutionary War 18th Century Silver Shoe Knee Buckles CT:
$400.00

Up for purchase is a beautiful lot of five various revolutionary war era shoe, stock, and knee buckles, not dug but discovered in an estate cleanout in NH.

They are all in rare, excellent condition and were kept on cotton in a small cardboard jewelry box. This collection is in much better condition than some I have seen in museums! Four of the buckles have marks. One has a clear maker mark of SA which I believe refers to Samuel Avery of Preston, CT, active around 1779. He was the son of the silversmith and clock maker John Avery, Sr., active 1765-1794. Samuel’s bother, John Avery, Jr. also of Preston, CT was a silversmith too and was active 1776-1815.

All of the buckles appear to be iron.

I am not an expert in this area and am going on research and advice from antiques people.

From a non-smoking home. Please ask questions and/or request further photos if interested. See my response and buy with confidence!
