This is a stunning Japanese Spill Vase in the form of an Elephant. The piece is signed at the base and the detail is quite breath taking, the piece is hand painted and the colour way is vibrant and very striking. I know that the piece has been in the family for years but am not knowledgeable in antique signed Japanese porcelain or pottery so therefore an unable to advise on the age of this beautiful piece. Listed as Spill Vase as this is what I was always told, however again this lovely piece could have another use as he has a blue stand across so was he for brushes and a brush pot? . Again not my area but just know it is a beautiful antique very unusual signed Japanese piece. The amazing and unusual Elephant is so lifelike and is 5\" x 3\" x 2\". He is in wonderful antique condition and has no damage at all. It is hand painted and there is a tiny spot on the back foot that was never painted, the cream porcelain can be seen. However this is not a chip or damage as there is the glaze over this. Therefore he is fantastic. The condition is commensurate with age and use of the piece.
