Up for saleis lovely vintage double peacock and floral pink and white chenille bedspread with scalloped edges and white poms in twin / full size.

From the 1930\'s through 1950\'s, clotheslines bearing chenille bedspreads for sale lined U.S. Highway 41 through Dalton, GA and other small communities in northwest Georgia. Tourists on their way to Florida often stopped and bought these spreads believing them to be examples of authentic American folk art crafts. Of the many designs adorning the spreads, the most popular among tourists was the peacock. This section of Highway 41 became known as \"Peacock Alley\" because of the dominance of the peacock design in the roadside displays of the bright, colorful handmade chenille bedspreads.

Measures approximately 87\" wide by 96\" long, for a twin or full size bed, (shown on a twin bed). Cotton spread with lush chenille tufting in vibrant colors and classic vintage peacock design all on pale pink background in good condition, no rips, repairs or odors, one small stain below center yellow flower (on arch above peacocks - could be laundered out), a few tiny holes and missing a just a few poms on one side, not that noticeable. Still some life left to this cute spread, a lovely super fun vintage addition to your shabby vintage home/camper, airstream, cottage, you name it.Be sure to check my other sales and thanks for looking.
