Description2 VINTAGE STERLING OVERLAY CANDLE HOLDERS
Striking vintage Lucy Qinnuayuak (1915-1982) stone cut on paper print framed under glass measuring 21\" tall by 16-3/4\" wide. Titled \"ESKIMO WOMAN WITH FISH SPEAR\", image is beautifully rendered in crisp black and white, signed in pencil \"Stone Cut #12/50 Cape Dorset N.W.T. 1961 Lucy - I think the print maker is LUKTA QIATSUK (1928-2004). Mounted under a complimentary double matte of black and red with muted gold frame, condition is lovely with no tears, holes, fading, discoloration or damage -- as shown, there are a few tiny irregularities to the paper from the hand made nature of the relief print and several tan pin-point dots from age or make. Typical of her work, the piece depicts a woman\'s role in traditional Inuit culture - approach is stylistic and slightly primitive - note the tiny child, hands and out of proportion head. Just a beautiful piece - very moving - wonderful addition to any collection or display!
