This is an original8x10glossy,black and white, 1958 20th Century-Fox stillscene photo picturing CHRISTINECARERE and SHEREENORTH from the romantic musical, “MARDIGRAS”, directed by EDMUND GOLDING.
A group ofVirginia Military Institute cadets organize a raffle: the \"prize\" isFrench movie star Michelle Marton (CHRISTINE CARERE), queen of the NewOrleans Mardi Gras. On his own, cadet Pat Newell (Pat Boone) meets and falls in love with Michelle, notknowing her true identity. The cause of true romance is nearly compromised bythe raffle and by Hollywood publicity hacks, but by film\'s end everything worksout fine. The film is deftly stolen by supporting actress SHEREE NORTH who playsEadie West, Marton’s wise-cracking press agent confidante, who also performsthe film\'s best musical number, \"That Man.\" This was North’s lastfilm for Fox, who had been signed by that studio in 1954 as a Marilyn Monroe successor, but Jayne Mansfield was now being groomed byFox for stardom instead. For his work on the film,Lionel Newman received an Academy Award in the Music (Scoring of aMusical Picture) category.
