Offeredin this sale is an interesting Solid Silver Coin Set in a Solid Copper, WoodLined Box. The Hand wrought Box is simple and unadorned with aninterior 7 barrel hinge and is centred by the Iconic Silver Bullion coin of theAustro-Hungarian Empire and later much of the Middle East, the MariaTheresa Thaler. The Box shows the profile of the Empress on the uppersurface, while the

Crestand Legend are inside the lid.

The Maria Theresa Thaler is a silverbullion coin that has been used in world trade continuously since they werefirst minted in 1741. It was named afterEmpress Maria Theresa, who ruled Austria, Hungary, and Bohemia from 1740 to1780. The word Thaler gave rise to Daalder and Daler, which became Dollarin English. Since 1780, the coin has always been dated 1780 even though itcontinued to be minted well into the 20th Century.

SIZE& CONDITION: The Box is approximately 17cm ( just over 6 ½“) wide by 4” (10cm) deep and weighs 429 g (15 oz).

The Boxis in fair to good condition, with solder evident around the coin on the insideand some denting, but no tears or repairs noted (see photos).

MARKS: The Box is unmarked.
