Offered here is a gorgeous, very rare antique sterling silver and ivory fish server made by fine American silver makers, Whiting, circa 1890 prior to 1900. The size of this server is huge, measuring 14\" long and 3\" wide. This is an amazing piece.
The fish server is in overall excellent condition. There are no dings, splits or repairs to the sterling portion. The back is clearly marked \"Sterling 2888\" with the Whiting lion hallmark. The ivory handle is in good shape, I believe. There are no chips orother losses that I can find. There are some darker lines that go through the length of the ivory that are from age. I assume you can clean the ivory, but I did not want to diminish its value. The server weighs 7.1 regular ounces. This is a truly fabulous servingpiece, in the Whiting Ivory pattern.
