Tony Weare (January 1, 1912– December 2, 1994) was a British comicsartist best known for drawing Matt Marriott, a daily Westernstrip written by Jim Edgar, which ran in The EveningNews from 1955 to 1977.

Tony Weare was born at Wincanton, Somerset,and studied drawing at the BournemouthSchool of Art but became a trooper in a cavalry regiment where he developed alove of horses. As well as Matt Marriott, he also worked at MickeyMouse Weekly, where he worked on \"Billy Brave\", \"Pride ofthe Circus\", \"Savage Splendour\", and \"Robin Alone\". Heillustrated \"The Colditz Story\" for Junior Express and wasvoted Serious Strip Cartoonist of the Year, 1961. In the 1980s he drew\"Rookwood\" for Look and Learn magazine and a few sequences in Alan Mooreand David Lloyd\'s V for Vendetta, at the invitation of Lloyd, an admirer of his work.

Thisstrip features MattMarriott and a man named Deeming discussing his killing three men. Beautifullydetailed pen and ink work by Tony Weare. There is minor retouching withwhiteout throughout the art. Art is mounted to another board, with some foxingin the outter margins. Tape is covering the strip title and creator headers.Otherwise the artwork is in great condition.
