This is a very lovely 24 inch antique doll with fixed blue eyes, open mouth with 4 teeth and an original brown human wig. She has a wood and composition body with wood ball joints. The body is marked \"Effanbee\" on the back and is in excellant condition. Effanbee made a doll around 1918 called \"Mary Jane\" that had a body like this. But I don\'t know if someone put this head and this body on later or if Handwerck used these bodies at one time or vise versa. I really don\'t know and could not find any other research on her. Her wig was very dirty and rough looking, so I washed it and curled and tried to restyle it, so it looks a lot better than it did when I found her. The head and body go well together. There are no chips or cracks in the head. Just the little finger missing on the right hand. Her head is marked MAX HANDWERCK/GERMANY/7 1/2. She is wearing an ivory cotton and lace dress with older pantaloons,slip, shoes and socks.
