This is an outstanding find of a mint condition, unused, deeply carved, full featuredcuckoo clockthatwas created in the Black Forest of \"Germany\" about 25 years ago for \"The Danbury Mint.\" It is an absolutely gorgeous carved wooden clock and one of the most unique everproduced.This clock is made from cured and aged Lindenwood which is grown nearly exclusively at certain altitudes of theBlack Forest.The case is made to look very much like a breathtaking chalet home that you still find inthe Alps of southern Germany.The front of the case features a tall, bending pine tree on either side of the dial, reeds between them near the bottom and two very detailed bees near the bottom. There is awooden balcony abovethe dial and a dancing platform trimmed in wooden shakes is located just above it withfour, colorful, genuine \"Hummel\" children dancers: two of them feature a boy and girl and the other two are Bavarian boys; charming! The figurines are stamped \"M.J. Hummel, Goebel\" on each of their respective bases. The dialhas a woodtone backdrop and features large white Roman numerals to mark the hours and matchingfancy hands to point out the time.There is a wooden door at thevery back that easily removes to allow access to the all metal, weight driven,\"Regula\"movement. Aweight driven movement simply means that thechains need to be pulledoccasionally to wind the clock, cuckoo, and music. Regula makes the verybest clock movements and all high-end clocks have this movement.Thebellowtubes are intact and the bellow clips are still in place. The original packaging materials are still in place inside the case as well...makes sense because it\'s never been used. It is designed to run like this: at thebottom of each hour,acolorful bird opensthesmallwooden door above the dance floor and stands in thedoorway.The bird gives off a single cuckoo sound in tandem with anice sounding coiled chime inside the case. When he\'s through,thebird returns to the safe confinesof the clock,closing thedoor behind him. When he\'s safely back inside, thedancefloorbegins to turn and a high quality \"Swiss Mapsa\" music box insidethe case plays a heavenly rendition of \"Edelweiss,\" my wife\'s favorite song from the Sound of Music. While the music plays, the figurines on the dance floor spin about until the music stops playing; reallycool! At the top of each hour, the bird appears again and correctlycuckoos/chimes the current number of hours before going back inside theclock. When the bird is safely back inside, the activity commences allover again but this timethemusic box inside the case playsthe\"The Happy Wanderer,\"one of my all-time favorite Bavariantunes.The music shuts offwhen the tune is finished and thedancers wait until thesegment to continue their waltz.Thisclock really has a lot of features! There is an intact label on the right side of the clock identifying the song titles, Swiss origin, and Mapsa manufacture. There is a metal rod connected to the movement but suspended below the case by the chains that allows you to enable or disable the cuckoo, chime, and music activities as you wish. The clock is unused, no damage, and comes in the original foam carton with three weights, a wooden chalet pendulum, instructions, set up information, and a certificate of authenticity from The Danbury Mint. The clock is very impressive and equally so in size too measuring about12\" high (not counting theweights or pendulum), about 7 3/4\" at its deepest point,and about 9 1/2\" or so across the top. I did set the clock up to make sure it works well and it does; keeps good time, cuckoos as it should, and the music is heavenly. I\'m sure it will do the same for you. To keep it running this way, we advise that you have the clock serviced at least once every threeyears. Doing so will keep a classic clock like this one, healthy foryears to come. This clock is in a league all by itselfand is certain to be thefocal point of anycollection. Anyguests in your home or office will be more thanpleased to see and hear this rare German timepiecein action so offer withconfidence; you won\'t find another one and I have no doubt that you already love this clock!
